Abstract

Description

xiv, 2915 p.
This document provides the detailed residue evaluations prepared by the 2023 Joint FAO/WHO Meeting on Pesticide Residues (JMPR), forming part of the scientific basis for the establishment of maximum residue levels (MRLs) and related risk assessments. As Evaluation Part I – Residues, it focuses on the assessment of residue and analytical data and compiles comprehensive monographs for individual pesticides, including new compounds and those undergoing periodic review, based on the evaluation of submitted studies, relevant scientific literature and data provided by Codex members. For each substance, the evaluations address residue behaviour in the context of good agricultural practice, including metabolism in plants and livestock, environmental fate, analytical methods, storage stability and the magnitude of residues observed in supervised field trials. The document also examines residues in rotational crops and processed commodities, and derives supervised trials median residues and highest residue values used in dietary exposure assessments. The assessments are based largely on original studies and regulatory dossiers reviewed by experts. The publication is intended for risk assessors, regulatory authorities and technical experts involved in pesticide evaluation and international food safety standard setting, supporting recommendations to the Codex Committee on Pesticide Residues and contributing to harmonized regulatory approaches.
