Five global diabetes targets have been developed to strengthen the prevention and control of diabetes There are different approaches and data sources that can be used to measure progress against the diabetes targets within the WHO European Region. In Belgium, diabetes surveillance is performed using multiple data sources including a health examination survey, quality improvement initiatives and insurance claims data.
