Project coordinators and politicians from 32 WHO project cities and 15 national networks of the European Healthy Cities network attended the meeting. The main items on the agenda were the terms of reference, strategic programme budget, election of Advisory Committee and evaluation framework for phase III of the project. Items for debate and exchange of experience included developing work for phase III requirements, city health development planning, establishing local partnerships for health, healthy urban planning and addressing the social determinants of health and equity in health. The main outcomes were the endorsement of the terms of reference, budget and evaluation framework and election of the Advisory Committee. The next business meeting will take place in Vienna in October 1999
