Abstract

Description

43 p.
This web annex accompanies the Consolidated guidelines on HIV testing services, 2019 and presents the GRADE evidence profiles supporting recommendations on demand creation approaches to increase uptake of HIV testing and facilitate linkage to HIV prevention, treatment and care. Developed in accordance with the WHO guideline development process, it compiles evidence from systematic reviews evaluating a broad range of interventions, including financial and non-financial incentives, community mobilization, peer-led approaches, personalized messaging, counselling strategies, social media, websites, SMS, invitation letters and other communication interventions. The annex summarizes the certainty of the evidence using the GRADE methodology and addresses key outcomes relevant to HIV testing services. The publication provides detailed evidence tables for each intervention, including assessments of study design, risk of bias, inconsistency, indirectness, imprecision and overall certainty of the evidence, together with relative and absolute effect estimates for critical and important outcomes such as HIV testing uptake, linkage to care, linkage to prevention, HIV positivity yield and retesting. Intended as a methodological companion to the main guideline, the annex enhances transparency in the formulation of WHO recommendations and serves as a technical resource for policy-makers, programme managers, researchers and guideline developers involved in strengthening HIV testing services.
