Abstract

Description

This report summarizes the proceedings and outcomes of the 18th FAO/WHO Joint Meeting on Pesticide Management, held in October 2025 in Geneva and online. It documents recent developments in pesticide management and reviews progress made since the previous meeting, with the aim of supporting coordinated international efforts to reduce risks to human health and the environment while ensuring effective pest and vector control across the pesticide life cycle. The meeting brought together experts from multiple sectors to assess current practices, identify emerging challenges and guide the development and revision of technical guidance. The report covers a wide range of topics, including revisions to the International Code of Conduct on Pesticide Management, development of new and updated guidance on issues such as pesticide incident reporting, container management, drone application and minor use registration, as well as consideration of emerging priorities such as pesticide resistance and risk communication. It highlights key recommendations, outlines follow-up actions and describes the operational and advisory role of the Joint Meeting. Intended for policy-makers, regulatory authorities and technical experts, the document serves as a reference to inform national and international pesticide management policies, strengthen regulatory frameworks and support the safe and sustainable use of pesticides.
