dc.descriptionThe twenty-third meeting of the European Technical Advisory Group of Experts on Immunization (ETAGE) was held in a hybrid format in Copenhagen, Denmark, and online on 5–6 December 2023. The meeting was intended to review and discuss immunization activities in the WHO European Region and provide advice to the WHO Regional Office for Europe on topical immunization issues. Advice and guidance from ETAGE were sought on the regional adaptation of the recommendations of the Strategic Advisory Group of Experts on Immunization. ETAGE endorsed the regional technical progress report of the European Immunization Agenda 2030 (EIA2030) and issued recommendations on how to accelerate progress towards EIA2030 targets. Information was shared and discussions held on the prevention of diseases caused by respiratory syncytial virus, and on the WHO prioritization and strategy for the development of new vaccines to reach the Immunization Agenda 2030 Research and Development Goal and its relevance to the Region. ETAGE discussed the findings of a Vaccine-preventable Diseases and Immunization Programme survey among national immunization technical advisory groups to identify a mechanism to share topics for discussion at the next ETAGE annual meeting in 2024.
