This executive summary presents the main findings of the WHO Global oral health status report and provides an overview of the global burden of oral diseases, associated inequalities and the challenges to achieving universal health coverage for oral health by 2030. Drawing on the latest available evidence from the Global Burden of Disease project, the International Agency for Research on Cancer and WHO surveys, it describes the prevalence and distribution of major oral diseases, their shared social determinants and risk factors with other noncommunicable diseases, and their substantial health, social and economic impacts. The report also introduces country oral health profiles to support monitoring and future action. The publication outlines opportunities to reorient oral health systems from predominantly restorative care towards prevention, health promotion and integration within primary health care and universal health coverage. It highlights the need to strengthen oral health services, workforce capacity, surveillance, research and access to essential interventions while addressing persistent inequalities affecting disadvantaged populations. The report serves as a baseline resource for implementing the WHO Global Strategy on Oral Health and the Global Oral Health Action Plan, supporting Member States in monitoring progress and advancing equitable oral health for all by 2030.
