dc.descriptionThis web annex accompanies the WHO Guidelines on mental health promotive and preventive interventions for adolescents: helping adolescents thrive and provides the evidence base supporting the guideline recommendations. It presents detailed GRADE evidence profiles, Summary of Findings tables and tables of included studies for each Population, Intervention, Comparison and Outcome (PICO) question addressed during guideline development. The annex covers psychosocial interventions for all adolescents, as well as interventions targeting adolescents exposed to violence, poverty or humanitarian emergencies, pregnant and parenting adolescents, adolescents living with HIV, and adolescents with emotional symptoms or disruptive and oppositional behaviours. The document summarizes the certainty of the evidence, effect estimates and methodological assessments for outcomes including positive mental health, mental disorders, self-harm, substance use, aggressive and disruptive behaviours, school attendance and sexual and reproductive health behaviours. It also documents the characteristics of the studies included in the evidence reviews, together with explanations for GRADE certainty ratings and Summary of Findings tables. Published to promote transparency in accordance with the WHO handbook for guideline development, this annex provides the technical evidence underpinning the recommendations and supports their interpretation and implementation.
