This publication presents a curriculum assessment tool designed to support medical schools and universities in evaluating and strengthening antimicrobial resistance (AMR)-related content within undergraduate medical education. Developed by WHO as a complement to existing competency frameworks and curricula guidance on AMR, the tool responds to the growing global threat posed by antimicrobial resistance and the critical role of prescribers in promoting appropriate antimicrobial use, infection prevention and control, and antimicrobial stewardship. It aims to facilitate systematic review of curricula, identify gaps in AMR-specific and AMR-sensitive competencies, and support ongoing dialogue among educators, institutions and stakeholders. The document outlines a structured assessment process consisting of a desk review and a multidisciplinary workshop, supported by tools for evaluating curriculum content, scope and institutional readiness. Assessment domains include microbiology, pharmacology, internal medicine, surgery, paediatrics, obstetrics and gynaecology, and public health, alongside institutional policies, infrastructure, human resources and educational practices.
