Abstract

Description

This chapter introduces the concept of an Elgar Research Agenda, and sets out the aim of this volume as providing a space for leading scholars to explore the current debates they think will inform the future of research in succession law. It emphasises that authors were asked to consider how researchers might respond to societal developments that will have implications for succession law, including changes in family forms, technological advances, and an ageing global population, and that a range of methodological approaches are reflected in the chapters. It then outlines the content of the remainder of the volume, highlighting the particular themes that emerge. These include testamentary freedom, protecting vulnerable testators, and family solidarity.
