The Package of eye care interventions (PECI) provides a comprehensive set of evidence-based interventions to support the integration of eye care into universal health coverage, particularly in low- and middle-income settings. Developed in response to World Health Assembly resolution WHA73 on integrated people-centred eye care, the publication addresses the growing global burden of vision impairment, persistent inequities in access to services, and the need to strengthen eye care across all levels of the health system. It outlines the methodology used to identify and prioritize interventions and describes the resources required for their implementation. The package presents recommended interventions across the continuum of care, including health promotion and prevention, screening, diagnosis and monitoring, treatment, and rehabilitation. For each intervention, it specifies the relevant stage of the life course, recommended level of service delivery, and links with health programmes and sectors. The publication also includes guidance on implementation, together with annexes detailing the evidence base, equipment, medicines, assistive products and other material resources needed to support the delivery of integrated, people-centred eye care services.
