Mathematical modelling is a key tool for informing immunization policies, enabling decision-makers to assess policy options and evaluate health and economic trade-offs. This World Health Organization (WHO) guidance supports stakeholders involved in immunization decision-making—such as national and regional immunization technical advisory groups (NITAGs and RITAGs), Expanded Programme on Immunization (EPI) managers, and technical partners—in interpreting and applying model estimates. The guidance introduces core modelling concepts, outlines how modelling contributes to the Evidence-to-Decision (EtD) process, and provides practical recommendations for engaging with modelling experts. It also presents a structured approach for appraising model outputs, whether locally developed or derived from existing studies, to support the translation of modelling evidence into informed immunization decisions.
