This annual report presents the activities and impact of the World Health Organization’s Contingency Fund for Emergencies (CFE) during 2018. The publication describes how the Fund enabled WHO to respond rapidly to 29 health emergencies in 29 countries, including infectious disease outbreaks, natural disasters and complex humanitarian crises. It explains the role of the CFE in providing flexible financing within hours of an emergency declaration, allowing WHO and partners to deploy technical experts, strengthen surveillance systems, support vaccination campaigns, deliver essential medicines and coordinate emergency health operations.
