Abstract

Description

38 p.
This annex accompanies the WHO consolidated guidelines on tuberculosis: tuberculosis preventive treatment and presents the GRADE summary of evidence tables that informed the new and updated recommendations issued in the 2018 and 2019 guideline revisions. It compiles the evidence underpinning key policy questions (PICO), providing a transparent summary of the certainty of the evidence, magnitude of effects and importance of outcomes considered during guideline development. The tables cover evidence relating to populations at risk of tuberculosis infection and disease, screening strategies, diagnostic test accuracy and tuberculosis preventive treatment regimens, using standardized GRADE methodology to support evidence-to-decision processes. For each PICO question, the annex summarizes study designs, risk of bias, inconsistency, indirectness, imprecision, effect estimates, quality of evidence and the strength and importance of outcomes. It also documents the assumptions, limitations and explanatory notes associated with the evidence assessments, enabling readers to understand the rationale supporting the recommendations included in the parent guideline. The annex is intended to ensure methodological transparency and to provide the detailed evidence base underpinning WHO recommendations on tuberculosis preventive treatment.
