dc.descriptionThe WHO Regional Office for Europe provides ongoingsupport to Member States in preparing for, responding toand recovering from public health emergencies. Activitiesto strengthen preparedness include risk assessments,workshops, training, technical support and documentation.WHO works with Member States to help them implementthe requirements of the International Health Regulations,which are intended to help countries prevent and respond toacute public health risks. When disaster does strike, WHOleads the global health cluster to coordinate humanitarianhealth action. In this capacity, WHO/Europe collaborateswith international partners and local and national healthauthorities to meet the immediate health needs of theaffected populations. In the aftermath of a crisis, WHOsupports recovery plans and ongoing reconstruction effortsto restore, and where necessary improve, health systemsand infrastructures. The institutional capacity of the WHORegional Office for Europe to maintain such support requiressustainable resources and predictable funding mechanisms.
