dc.descriptionThis web appendix accompanies the Guidelines on the treatment of skin and oral HIV-associated conditions in children and adults and presents the GRADE evidence profiles that informed the WHO recommendations. It compiles the evidence used to assess the benefits and harms of interventions for HIV-associated dermatological and oral conditions affecting children and adults. For each clinical question, the appendix summarizes study design, risk of bias, inconsistency, indirectness, imprecision, quality of evidence, effect estimates and the relative importance of outcomes according to the GRADE methodology. The appendix includes evidence tables covering the management of Kaposi sarcoma, seborrhoeic dermatitis, papular pruritic eruption, eosinophilic folliculitis, tinea infections, herpes zoster, scabies, molluscum contagiosum, oropharyngeal candidiasis, and Stevens–Johnson syndrome and toxic epidermal necrolysis. Comparisons evaluate antiretroviral therapy alone or in combination with pharmacological and other therapeutic interventions across a range of outcomes, including clinical response, mortality, disease progression, adverse events and treatment success. By providing the underlying evidence assessments and certainty ratings for each recommendation, this document supports transparency in the guideline development process and serves as a technical reference for readers seeking the evidence base underpinning the WHO guidance.
